Why Spay and Neuter? Peace of Mind. Male animals will be better behaved as they will not have the desire to seek out females or fight with other males over territory. Females won't roam for "affection." The males will lose the desire to mark their territory -- certainly an annoyance when indoors and dogs urinate or cats spray. Also, typically aggression problems can be curbed by altering an animal early.
Good Medicine. Altering your pet can lead to a healthier companion. Reproductive organs, when not used for breeding, can develop cancers and other reproductive disorders.
Responsible Care. One cat or dog whose babies have babies can be responsible for the birth of 50 to 200 additional animals in one year. And while everyone loves puppies and kittens, this country already has an overpopulation problem that has left homeless animals pouring out of shelters and humane organizations nationwide. Unfortunately, stray animals do not have a fighting chance and, if not hit by cars, they often die of starvation or from exposure to the elements.
Please spay and neuter. It is the right thing to do.
